Help JCCSG help others

Dear member,

JCCSG has been founded almost 6 years ago to help those struggling with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Over the past few years, we have helped people alleviate their struggle to survive the difficulties of these diseases. We have provided general information, assisted with medical referrals, launched educational symposiums and support group events.

In the past few months, we have spent a lot of resources to improve and strengthen connections with doctors to be able to expedite appointments, to provide support for those struggling with the disease and their families, and to arrange support gatherings. We also have many great ideas in the pipeline for the future.

We never asked our beneficiaries for any fee, and intend to continue to do so for as long as we can. However, we need financing to be able to launch new projects and keep up with the old ones.

Here we are with a plea to all of you: please help us out so we'll be able to help you better. Any donation, no matter how small, will go a long way in making it all possible.

You can donate here: https://thechesedfund.com/cause/help-jccsg-to-help-others

You can also send us a Chase QuickPay to: Info@JCCSG.org

Or you can send us a check, payable to JCCSG Inc., to:

We are a 501(c)3 organization. All your donations are tax deductible.

We appreciate your help and look forward to your generous contribution.

Please forward this email to your family and friends. And post it on social media.

All the best!

Audio of Lakewood Event & Purim Alert!

Dear Member,

Here is the Dropbox link to download the Audio recording of the previous event in Lakewood.
JCCSG Event #9 - 3/2/16 - LRBCL Lakewood NJ

*

PURIM ALERT!!!

We're sending this email early enough... it's a friendly reminder about the danger of mixing certain medications with alcohol. In some cases, alcohol interactions may decrease the effectiveness of medications or render them useless. In other cases, alcohol interactions may make drugs harmful or even toxic to your body, even in small amounts!

We witnessed many patients taking Flagyl - Metronidazel and they drank alcohol having very unpleasant and some even life threatening side effects, Therefore if you're taking Flagyl - Metronidazel, do NOT drink! (We pointed out one Antibiotic, but there are many more other medications with the same danger).

In any case, each and every Crohn's and Colitis patient should double check with their doctor if drinking alcohol while taking your medication is safe, and if you're allowed to drink even a drop!

Please be responsible! Do it for yourself and for your family.

A Freilichen Purim! And Tumid B'Simcha!

A loss to the IBD world, Dr. Present

It is with regret and sorrow that we wish to inform you that Dr. Daniel H. Present passed away at the age of 81.
The pain is still raw, and the loss so profound. Dr. Present was a strong advocate for our noteworthy organization JCCSG. He has been a source of advice, guidance, and affection ever since our inception. We vividly recall the time we met with him in year 2011, prior to founding our organization. Dr. Present spent over an hour with us, providing us with sound advice how to open this organization. His guidance and encouragement keep us going to this day.

Dr. Present, or Dan as he was fondly called, entered private practice in 1964. He quickly began to focus on the treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, bringing clinical trials into clinical practice. A brilliant, innovative, and charismatic figure, Dr. Present has played an integral role in the treatment of the disease, serving as a world renowned Gastroenterologist at Mount Sinai Hospital for over 54 years. He paved the way for the currents modes of treatments for Crown's disease.
Dr. Present took immense pleasure in his care and dedication for his patients. He derived joy from sparing his patients the pain, discomfort, and humiliation of inflammatory bowel disease by finding the right treatment. He tried to prevent surgery by all means whenever there was another possible medical solution. He spent many, many hours with his patients, more than any HMO would have allowed. He sat at their bedside and visited them late at night when they fell ill, and he shared their joy when they recovered.

Nothing made Dr. Present happier than seeing a college student returning to school or a former patient feeling well enough to plan a wedding or bear a child. The numerous people he has helped are his everlasting memory, and his many achievements in the field of medicine will be his immortal presence. May his virtuous soul rest in peace.

Funeral services will be held on Today, Thursday at 12:00pm at "The Riverside", 180 West 76th St., New York, NY 10023.
